#00 — Thoughts on using AI to be more creative: for finding and then visualizing things
— this ends up mostly being “go check out hex.tech, go check out flowimmersive”…but you’re welcome to read my train of thought.
Underlying any concept you’d want to look into, there is probably an existing plethora of data and information behind it that exists on the internet.
Finding the sparks within can be tedious though.
I’m mostly just thinking through and sharing out how I’d go about it if I was trying to make something unique / creative in this realm.
Let’s look at Hurricanes.
What do I currently know about hurricanes? Lots of peripheral knowledge, but not much off the top of my mind in a data-realm.
Let’s go to chatgpt. Oh look, number 1 looks good.
Which leads me here: HURDAT Re-analysis various data tables (noaa.gov)
A nice little table.
You can upload this back into Chatgpt to get ideas of what’s interesting in the first place. (choose your method to get it into the cloud / csv file, whether that’s google sheets, a text-editor, excel…)
Which can result in some interesting insights (I’m surprised at this response and unsure of its accuracy and …will double check later).
If I wanted to check that I’d probably need to be a programmer or a data scientist who understands this stuff….
OR just use a magic tool like Hex.
Seriously ah this is so easy now. Go there. Upload the csv file.
What is easiest is the csv upload but like….there’s a range of ways.
Liberal use of the ‘magic’ cell later….
…which surprisingly helps support this.
Which I could even share as a live version here but I can’t get it to publish and am just experimenting so….
That gives me one ‘start’ after barely five minutes, and gives me a direction.
Another tool I keep eyeing is Flow immersive and it has similar magic bits.
Flow Immersive 3D AR Data Visualization
You can use it’s AI data transformation view after you’ve uploaded your basic csv to get a data transformation more focused on what you’re looking at….such as charting hurricanes by decade.
Which with a few quick selections…reconfirms that initial chart.
Which DOES make a quick shareable link.

Which….I’m sorta surprised at. I guess they’re going down in number but up in intensity? (That probably makes sense, bigger but fewer).
